Composite rod for Speciality CuttingRelated Products: Brazing rod, Flux, Grinding wheels Speciality Cutting Grades Cutting and Wear have, over the last few years, developed special "high performance" cutting composite rod using purpose made pieces of tungsten carbide shaped to optimum cutting performance and manufactured from a steel cutting grade of tungsten carbide (CW6), developed and proven originally on the North Sea in long section milling applications. Application for these rods are where performance is critical and the application doesn't justify engineering required to use inserts but the guaranteed performance of CW6 is required. The rods can be used in crucial areas of tools reinforcing standard composite rod. Sharkstooth STARCUTT COMPOSITE ROD Starcutt inserts are supplied as a Composite Rod, with a high tensile nickel bronze (nickel silver) matrix for ease of application. The inserts are distributed throughout the rod to give a uniform cutting surface with excellent bonding characteristics between the tungsten carbide and substrate. The grade of carbide used in Starcutt has been proven over many years through use in Cutting & Wear’s many down hole steel milling applications. Starcutt Composite Rod is available in ¼” (6.5mm) mesh made up in 250gm (9oz) or 500gm (18oz) rods.
