Cutting & Wear provide supplies for hardbanding drill pipe, drill collars and stabilizer blades.

Tungsten carbide is supplied crushed in various grain sizes and two types - sintered (hard and tough) and fused (very hard but brittle). Crushed sintered being the most economical is generally used, while sintered pellets are applied by the original drill pipe manufacturer. Tungsten carbide for hardbanding is supplied in various forms crushed, sintered and fused, in pellet form sintered and fused.

Wires for hardbanding include filler wire used to form the molten weldpool for the tungsten carbide.

'Softbanding' 601 is used when casing wear is a problem. This wire gives a high degree of protection to the drill string with minimum casing wear. Arocoy CTR is a tubular wire filled with tungsten carbide and produces a compromise deposit - a very hard matrix with some fine tungsten carbide. This is ideal for deposition by automatic machines.
