Meet the Production Team
This month the spotlight is on our Production team who are directly involved in the manufacture and production of our growing range of engineering and hardfacing products and services. The Production team work very closely with both Sales and R&D to ensure that products are delivered on time, on budget and to the quality specified by our customers.  John Kennedy Engineering Workshop Manager John is an apprentice trained Toolmaker and has a full Technicians Certificate in Production Engineering. He started his career at Stanley Tools, then worked for 20 years in the Automotive Industry, eventually becoming Works Manager. There then followed a period working as Production Manager and Operations Manager in oil related engineering companies, before joining Cutting & Wear in 2006. John follows non-league football, the ‘grass roots' level and says he is a music lover with an eclectic taste. |  John Gordon Production & Data Controller Apprentice trained gauge & toolmaker at Naval Ordinance Services Establishment. Worked in other industries including Leicester Polytechnic as Silver Technician; Ashberry & Degrenne as Work & Method Study Engineer; Tyzack Turner; Spear & Jackson & Bestobell Valves as Production/Stock Controller, before coming to Cutting & Wear as Production & Data Controller. John is a Member of Institute of Operations Management. |  Paul Jacobs Hardfacing Technology Supervisor Paul joined the company in March 1989 at the age of eighteen. He began as part of a three man team that made up the Hardfacing Development section at that time. The team had just embarked on the new concept of hardfacing using Tungsten Carbide inserts and Metal Spray powders. Over the following couple of years Paul helped to develop the process in to the highly successful Quick Tip system we know today. In 2003 Paul became supervisor for the Hardfacing Technology Centre and now manages a team of six full-time operatives. |  Alan Merrick Engineering Supervisor Apprentice trained at Redwing Engineering in Sheffield. Started employment with Cutting and Wear in August 2001 as a CNC turner. Became Deputy Engineering Supervisor in August 2008. Interests Golf and Football. |  John Morgan Hardfacing Manufacture Production Supervisor John was apprenticed at Guest and Chrimes as a moulder and coremaker before joining Cutting and Wear in August 1987. John is a font of knowledge on hardfacing materials and became supervisor, managing production of Supacutt composite rod 1998. |  Simon Nowill Engineering Supervisor Simon trained as an apprentice at Sheffield Forge Masters. This was followed by 10 years service at Millhouses Engineering covering several roles from deep hole borer to CNC machinist & tool room machining. After 4 years at Mollart Cox Ltd as deep hole boring shop supervisor Simon joined Cutting & Wear. This is Simon's 9th year with the company. |
