4 August 2008 Life begins at forty...
On November 15th 2008 Cutting & Wear celebrates a significant landmark when we reach our 40th year in business. The company was established in Sheffield by Mr Brian Russell in 1968 to supply hard facing materials to oil and gas operations in the North Sea. The original product range was confined to composite rod hard facing materials, with either cutting or wear resistant properties. During the 1970's the increase in oil exploration and production in the North Sea led to a higher demand for our products which resulted in Mark Russell, now Managing Director, joining Cutting & Wear in 1975, followed by the move to Rotherham in 1976. Development of integral blade stabilizer bodies followed and proved to be a successful addition to the company's activities. In 1981 we took over the adjoining factory unit and doubled our factory space. Growth has continued, and for the last 6 years we have occupied 25,000 sq ft of production space and currently employ a staff of 57.
The occasion will be marked by a number of events throughout the year including an open day and barbecue. The climax will be a celebration at Tankersley Manor in Sheffield for employees and their partners. |
