New insert combines diamond hardness with Tungsten Carbide durability
The recent 2009 SPE/IADC Drilling Conference in Amsterdam was the venue for the launch of a new TSP (Thermally Stable Polycrystaline) diamond insert by Cutting & Wear.
Called TSP-Xtreme, the insert will be an important new weapon in the battle to reduce wear on downhole tools. TSP-Xtreme is applied using QuickTip, the world’s leading system for the application of hardfacing to downhole tools.
TSP-Xtreme combines the hardness and abrasion resistance of diamond and the toughness of tungsten carbide. This new product is designed to give downhole tools improved wear performance and durability, and, in the right applications, could lead to significant cost savings for oil service companies.
